This Privacy Policy explains how Bug Off Pest ("we," "us," or "our")
collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Bug Off Pest mobile app
(the "App") to request and manage pest-control service. By creating an account and using
the App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to provide your service. You give us most of it directly.
Account & contact information
Your first and last name, email address, and phone number.
Your service address (street, unit, city, ZIP), your neighborhood, and an optional gate code.
A profile photo, if you choose to add one.
Service information
Details of the service you request: the pest or service type, notes you write, your availability, and whether it's urgent.
Photos you choose to attach to a request or a message (for example, a picture of the pest or the affected area).
Messages you exchange with our office through the App.
Your referral code and, if you were referred, the code of the neighbor who referred you.
Technical information
A push-notification token (only if you allow notifications), so we can alert you to a reply or a seasonal pest notice.
Basic activity data such as your last-active time and the app version, used to operate and support the App.
One-time email verification codes used to sign you in. Codes are stored in hashed form and expire quickly.
We do not track your device's GPS location, and we do
not sell your personal information. Camera and photo-library access are used only
when you choose to attach a photo.
2. How we use your information
To verify your account and sign you in (email code).
To respond to your service requests, schedule visits, and communicate with you.
To locate your service address so our team can plan and route their visit.
To send you service-related notifications, and — only if you turn them on — seasonal pest alerts for your neighborhood.
To operate our referral program.
To provide support, keep the App secure, and meet legal obligations.
3. Camera, photos, and location
The App requests access to your camera and photo library so you can attach a photo to a
service request or message. We access them only at the moment you choose to add a photo.
Photos are re-encoded on upload, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS coordinates.
The App does not collect your device's precise location; to route to your address we
geocode the address you provide using third-party mapping services.
4. How we share information
Your information goes to Bug Off Pest to provide your service. We do not sell it or share
it for others' advertising. We share limited information only with service providers who help
us run the App, and only as needed:
Hosting — our database and files are stored on our hosting provider's servers, located in the United States.
Push notifications — delivered through Apple, Google, and the Expo push service.
Email — verification codes are sent through our email provider.
Mapping — we use mapping/geocoding services (such as the U.S. Census geocoder and OpenStreetMap) to locate and route to your service address.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our customers, the public, or Bug Off Pest.
5. Data retention and account deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide
service. You can delete your account at any time from the App (Profile → Delete my
account).
Deletion is scheduled with a 3-day grace period, during which you can cancel it from the App.
After the grace period, your personal details are permanently removed — name, email, phone, address, gate code, profile photo, and any photos you attached.
We keep an anonymized record of past service (such as service type and dates) for our business records; it is no longer linked to your identity.
Expired verification codes are deleted automatically.
6. How we protect your information
All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Sensitive profile details are stored in your device's secure storage (Keychain / Keystore).
Verification codes are hashed; uploaded photos are stripped of embedded location metadata; photo links are signed and time-limited.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Your choices
Access & update — view and edit your profile in the App at any time.
Delete — remove your account and personal data as described in Section 5.
Notifications — turn seasonal alerts on or off in Profile, and manage notification permissions in your device settings.
8. Children's privacy
The App is intended for adults arranging pest-control service for their household and is
not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we
will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated"
date above, and significant changes will be reflected in the App or on this page.
